August Lunch & Learn
Sister Cities International

“I like to believe that people, in the long run, are going to do more to promote peace than our governments. Indeed, I think that people want peace so much that one of these days governments had better get out of the way and let them have it.” ~Dwight D. Eisenhower, August 31, 1959

Abilene, Kan. – The next monthly virtual Lunch & Learn program will be Thursday, August 26 at noon central time.

Our guest speaker this month is Dr. Carol Robertson-Lopez with Sister Cities International. The presentation will focus on the history of Sister Cities International and its impact within the people-to-people programs around the world. Robertson-Lopez will discuss citizen diplomacy and how it affects local politics, international relations and more.

Dr. Robertson-Lopez is the Vice Chair/Chair-Elect of the Sister Cities International Board of Directors. She began her involvement with Sister Cities while serving two terms on the Santa Fe City Council and six years as the Mayor Pro Tempore.
