The Fort Worth-Mbabane community center project was funded by Sister Cities International’s Africa Urban Poverty Alleviation Program (AUPAP). AUPAP is a 3-year program focusing of developing such partnerships in Africa. Youth Ambassador Program draws to a close

45 Students and eight teachers from the U.S., Mexico, and Canada recently completed the Youth Ambassador Program: Trilateral North America, a program of the U.S. Department of State's Educational and Cultural Affairs Bureau. The program consisted of two three-week exchanges to Mexico and the U.S. facilitated by Sister Cities International.From June 24 to July 14, a delegation from Modesto, Culver City, and Los Angeles, California representing the U.S. traveled to Mexico. Unique arts structure celebrates sister city relationship

In 2011, Tacoma Sister Cities Council inaugurated a unique structure to celebrate its relationship with sister city Fuzhou, China. The award-winning “Fuzhou Ting”, a Chinese pavilion, is aimed at supporting Tacoma’s reconciliation efforts. It is housed in the Tacoma Chinese Reconciliation Park, a memorial dedicated to a painful time in Tacoma’s history, the expulsion of its Chinese citizens in 1885.The construction of the Ting, which began on September 22, 2010, was a collaborative process that involved various members of the community and its sister city. Buffalo celebrates 50th anniversary of sister city relationship with Kanazawa, Japan

In April, Buffalo, New York celebrated its 50th anniversary with sister city Kanazawa, Japan. The relationship, established in 1962, has seen several successful cultural, academic, business and youth exchanges. The extensive celebrations, hosted by the Buffalo Kanazawa Sister City Committee, included a banquet, attended by over 100 guests, including Buffalo Mayor Byron Brown and Sister Cities International President and CEO Mary D. Kane. A pivotal student exchange experience

Over 10 years ago, Jesper Frant, a high school student from Boulder, Colorado, went as an exchange student to sister city Mante, Mexico for a year.
